DATA SHEET

Description

A single pole heavy duty connector must do more than simply carry power. In heavy equipment, mining machinery, and other harsh-environment systems, the connector also needs to resist vibration, contamination, moisture, and the wear that comes from demanding field use. The ATHD Connector Series is designed specifically for these conditions as a sealed, single-pole, in-line power interconnect that helps engineers replace costly splices with a more serviceable and dependable connection solution.

Built for Harsh Heavy Equipment Power Applications

In off-road vehicles and industrial equipment, power connections are often exposed to constant motion, shock, dirt, water, and temperature swings. That environment makes a single pole heavy duty connector especially important wherever reliable inline power distribution is needed. ATHD is designed for high-vibration applications common in heavy equipment and mining markets, giving OEMs and system designers a sealed connector option that is easier to service than traditional non-repairable splices.

Sealed Inline Design for Serviceable Power Connections

One of the key advantages of ATHD is that it functions as a sealed inline connection system rather than a permanent splice. That matters in applications where maintenance accessibility, harness repair, and long-term durability can affect uptime and service costs. ATHD housings are field installable and repairable, helping equipment builders and service teams maintain power connectivity without defaulting to expensive sealed splice replacements. For applications requiring dependable one-position power interconnects, this makes ATHD a practical option for both original equipment design and replacement use in the field.

Engineered Around Proven Power Contact Performance

ATHD supports both size 12 and size 8 contact systems, giving designers flexibility based on current requirements and cable size. The product data sheet lists current ratings of 35A with RADSOK® contact technology or 25A with standard contacts for the size 12 system, and 70A with RADSOK® contact technology or 60A with standard contacts for the size 8 system. The series is also specified for one contact, 500 VAC operating voltage, 1500 AC RMS dielectric withstanding voltage, 100 mating cycles, and IP67 moisture resistance when mated. Allowable wire size ranges are listed as 16–12 AWG for size 12 and 10–8 AWG for size 8.

Designed for Rugged Environmental Conditions

For harsh-environment equipment, the durability of a single pole heavy duty connector depends on more than current rating alone. Temperature capability, sealing performance, and mechanical retention all contribute to long-term reliability. ATHD is rated for operating temperatures from -55 °C to 125 °C, with 150 °C available upon request, along with IP67 mated sealing and strong contact retention values for both size systems. These characteristics support use in equipment that sees outdoor exposure, washdown, vibration, and repeated maintenance activity.

A Practical Alternative to Non-Repairable Splices

In many harness designs, splices are used simply because they are familiar, even when they make service more difficult later. ATHD gives manufacturers and end users another option: a single pole heavy duty connector that can provide sealed inline power continuity while remaining installable and repairable. By combining sealed thermoplastic housings, single-contact simplicity, and compatibility with rugged power contact systems, ATHD helps support a more maintainable approach to harsh-environment power interconnect design.
